Translator Cart Information

The translator carts are an extremely useful tool to assist with patient care when the patient's primary language is not English. Below there will be step-by-step instructions on how to use the tablets, as well as the codes needed to do so. In addition to that, I will be including steps on how to access the translation service from any phone in case the tablet is unavailable. 

USAGE OF CARTS:

This is the translator cart. They are kept at different locations throughout the hospital and clinics.

Once you unlock the cart (there is no passcode), you should see several language options. The row at the top has recently used languages (red arrow), and the entirety of the catalog is below (green arrow). All languages have an audio option, and many have a video call option as well.

Using Spanish as our example, once you select a language you have several options. The only ones you will need are selecting the call type. Spanish has two options, Video (red arrow) or Voice (green arrow). Simply tap the one that you need, and a call will begin.

Once you choose a call option, the call will begin, and you will be taken into a call currently on hold. The time before a translator will connect in depends on the time of day, the language chosen, and the type of call.

Once the translator connects, the call will commence. They begin by stating their name and ID. After that, they will begin translating as necessary. When you are done with the call, simply press the red disconnect button.

PHONE USAGE:

To use the translation service on any phone, simply follow the following directions:

1) Call 1-800-481-3293

2) Enter our Customer ID code 501013244

4) Enter your 4-digit ID Number (See below under "phone pins")

5) Choose option 1 (select language by code)

6) Enter the 3-digit language code (see below under "language codes"

7) Once the translator connects, give them a brief explanation of why you are calling

8) When done with the call, simply hang up.

PINS:

Cyracom translation uses pins to track who to apply charges too. The tablets typically hold the pin, but you may occasionally see the following screen:

If you do, simply select the proper pin as listed below and continue as normal.
